Greg Bassuk

Chief Executive Officer

Greg Bassuk is Chief Executive Officer of AXS Investments.  Mr. Bassuk is a longtime financial services, asset management and alternative investments executive with a distinguished track record of building successful businesses.

Prior to AXS Investments, Mr. Bassuk was Managing Director and Head of Liquid Alternative Strategies at FS Investments, an asset management firm with $24 billion in assets under management. In this role, he created, launched and managed the company’s liquid alternatives business. During his tenure at the firm, Mr. Bassuk was a member of the Investment Committee and portfolio manager for the firm’s liquid alternative investment funds, while also driving education for financial advisors across U.S. retail distribution channels.

Mr. Bassuk previously was Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of IndexIQ, an asset management firm that brought the industry’s first comprehensive set of liquid alternative investments to market in mutual fund, ETF, separate account and model portfolio products. Mr. Bassuk helped grow the firm into the industry’s largest provider of alternative investment ETFs prior to its successful sale to New York Life Investment Management.

Prior to IndexIQ, Mr. Bassuk held business-building roles at Time Warner and served as Managing Director of private investment firm McGovern Capital.  Previously, Mr. Bassuk co-founded and built SmartPortfolio.com into one of the leading equity research and financial information companies on the Web prior to its successful sale to TheStreet.com.  Mr. Bassuk began his career as an investment management and corporate attorney at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

For his longtime civic work, Mr. Bassuk was named one of two annual recipients nationwide of the United States Young American Medal for Service.  He is a board member of several civic organizations, including the Coalition for Debtor Education and the United Way of Westchester and Putnam Counties, where he recently served as Board Chairman.

Mr. Bassuk received his B.S. from Cornell University and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
