Chief Operating Officer
Russell Tencer is the Chief Operating Officer of AXS Investments. Mr. Tencer is a longtime operations, finance and corporate executive in financial services and asset management. He also is a recognized industry leader in sustainability and ESG investing, having founded, built and scaled businesses at the intersection of asset management and sustainability.
Prior to AXS Investments, Mr. Tencer was the founder and CEO of United Wind, an innovative wind energy finance company which he grew to become a market leader in renewable energy project finance and development. Under his leadership, the company raised over $250m in corporate and project financing and ultimately sold to a global leader in renewable energy technology and innovation. Previously, Mr. Tencer was CEO of Wind Analytics, which he founded and scaled into a leading industry provider of data and analytics for the renewable energy industry. Mr. Tencer led the sale of the company in 2012.
During Mr. Tencer’s tenure in asset management and investment banking, his roles included CEO of a leading boutique investment banking firm, and Head of Trading and Institutional Sales at a New York-based brokerage and advisory firm.
Mr. Tencer attended the Owner/President Management Program (OPM 49) at Harvard Business School. He has served as a mentor and adviser to rising entrepreneur graduates from both Harvard Business School and New York University.
Mr. Tencer is a keynote and featured speaker globally on topics including renewable energy and entrepreneurship, most notably as a panelist at the 2018 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting held in Davos, Switzerland.
