Who is Brendan Wood International?
Brendan Wood International (BWI) was founded in 1970 and is a private partnership generating independent performance audits throughout the world. Relying on real-time intelligence, the firm advises public companies, institutional and activist investors, investment banks and broker dealers on strategy, performance and recruitment of TopGun talent. What is the Brendan Wood TopGun Index?
The index represents the stocks of approximately 25 companies identified by BWI as having the highest investment quality according to its proprietary rating system. It was developed in 2010.
How are companies chosen for the TopGun Index?
BWI starts with approximately 1,400 companies composing the Brendan Wood Shareholder Conviction Universe, which includes liquid large and mid-cap companies that trade on a U.S. national exchange.
BWI conducts up to 2,000 interviews with institutional investment professionals throughout the year to assess companies based on a number of quality factors, including: business strategy, long-term and short-term performance, executive and senior management, governance (including the company’s environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) practices), reporting and disclosure, balance sheet, commitment to own, and momentum and price appreciation.
BWI looks at the following sectors: financials, mining, real estate, generalist, energy, industrials, healthcare, technology media and telecom (“TMT”), and consumer.
BWI then rates and ranks the companies based on quality factor and the demand characteristics of their sectors. Then, it algorithmically identifies the top ranking companies - approximately 25 "TopGun" companies - for inclusion in the Brendan Wood TopGun Index.
Each January, the Index is rebalanced equally among its portfolio companies. For more on the construction of the TopGun index , see www.brendanwoodindex.com.

Shares of ETFs are bought and sold at market price (not NAV) and are not individually redeemed from the ETF. Brokerage commissions will reduce returns. NAVs are calculated using prices as of 4:00 PM Eastern Time. The closing price is the midpoint between the bid and ask price as of the close of exchange. Closing price returns do not represent the returns you would receive if you traded shares at other times.
