DEFINITIONS

Benefit Corporations (or "B Corps") work on behalf of shareholders and people in need. They occupy a legal middle ground between strictly for-profit publicly traded companies and not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations. To become certified, B Corp businesses must achieve a minimum score across a range of areas, including environmental, social, and legal standards, as well as transparency and accountability requirements.
